Treating Yeast
Infections
Yeast infections can affect
anyone at any age. It’s a disease triggered by a fungus called
Candida Albicans that causes your body to produce abnormally
large amounts of yeast. Although yeast is found
everywhere in your body, too much yeast can be quite dangerous.
The most common types of yeast infection are vaginal yeast
infection, thrush, diaper rash and nail bed infection.
Yeast infection is an easily treatable disease that virtually
goes away without complications. There are many yeast infection
treatments available for all types of infections.
Treating Vaginal Yeast
Infections
Vaginal yeast infection is
easily treated with over the counter anti fungal creams which
should be applied on the infected areas for one to seven
days. Using birth control like a condoms or a diaphragms
is not a good idea during this period. For pregnant women
it’s best to consult a doctor for a remedy.
To prevent vaginal yeast
infection from happening, avoid using deodorant tampons, douche
products, feminine sprays and scented toilet paper. It is also
better to wear cotton underwear and avoid wearing tight jeans
or panty hoses. When wearing a bathing suit, it is recommended
to change out of it right away.
Treating
Thrush
The yeast infection of the
mouth is called thrush and can be treated with medicated mouth
washes or lozenges that will dissolve in your mouth. One
of the recommended mouthwashs to use should contain nystatin
that will kill the yeast fungus.
The best prevention for thrush
is practicing good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least
twice a day or more, flossing once a day and using a mouth
wash. For mothers who breastfeed, it’s best to have a breast
check up for yeast infections.

Treating Diaper
Rashes
Diaper rashes that are caused
by yeast infections can be treated with an over the counter
anti fungal cream that contain nystatin or with supplements
like acidophilus.
Protecting small infants or
adults from diaper rashes means keeping the area clean at all
times. It also helps to allow the skin to breathe by not
wearing a diaper at least an hour a day. It’s also
recommended to use cotton diapers instead of the disposable
ones since cotton lets the skin breathe more easily.
Treating Nail Bed
Infections
Yeast infections of the nail
bed are harder to treat. A prescription for anti fungal pill is
needed and it can also be treated with anti fungal laquer which
usually only works in mild to moderate infections when the
nails haven't been infected yet by the fungus.
To prevent this infection from
occurring and recurring is to keep your skin dry and
clean all the time. It is also recommended to avoid contact
with anyone who has the disease. Wearing gloves if you are
gardening also reduces the chance of nail bed yeast infection
from happening. Another thing you should do is avoid
sharing personal items like nail clippers or socks.
Yeast infections and all the
different types are all easily treatable and preventable
diseases which should last usually no more than one to two
weeks and any time more than this means you need to see a
doctor.
Information on treating yeast
infections and preventing infections are available at online
medical journals and medical sites but for serious advanced
states of yeast infection it’s always better to consult a
doctor.
